1. Information We Collect

Cricket Calc collects the following information:

• Device Identifier: A unique identifier to associate matches with your device. Used even without an account.
• Match Data: Team names, scores, player names, and match statistics you enter.
• Account Data (optional): If you create an account, we store a passkey credential ID and public key to verify your identity. We do not store your biometric data (Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint) — biometric verification happens entirely on your device and never leaves it.
• Session Tokens: Encrypted tokens used to keep you signed in, stored securely on our servers.
• Recovery Code (hashed): A one-way hashed version of your backup recovery code. The plaintext code is shown to you once and never stored by us.
• Synced Preferences: If you have an account, your saved player names and app settings (appearance, haptics) are stored to sync across devices.

2. What We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your email address or phone number
• We do not collect biometric data of any kind
• We do not collect payment information
• We do not run advertising or build advertising profiles

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide cricket scoring functionality
• Enable match sharing and real-time score updates
• Allow delegation of scoring to other users
• Verify your identity when signing in with a passkey
• Sync your matches, players, and settings across your devices (accounts only)
• Improve app performance and user experience

4. Data Storage and Retention

All data is stored on secure servers hosted by Railway (cloud infrastructure provider) in the United States. Data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Anonymous (no account) match data is retained for 12 months from the last activity.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or commercial purposes. Data may be visible only in these limited cases:

• Users you explicitly delegate scoring access to (match data only)
• Anyone with a shared scoreboard link (scores only, no account data)
• Infrastructure providers (Railway for hosting, MongoDB for database) — these providers act as data processors under our instructions and are contractually prohibited from using your data for their own purposes

6. Authentication and Passkeys

Cricket Calc uses passkey authentication (WebAuthn), an industry-standard open protocol. When you create an account:

• Your device generates a cryptographic key pair
• Only the public key is sent to and stored on our servers
• The private key never leaves your device
• Biometric data (Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint) is used only by your device's secure hardware to unlock the private key and is never transmitted to us

We do not use any third-party authentication providers (such as Google, Apple, or Facebook sign-in). Your account credentials are managed entirely between your device and our servers.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data, including:

• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
• Cryptographically hashed recovery codes (bcrypt)
• Short-lived session tokens with automatic expiry
• Secure cloud infrastructure

8. Children's Privacy

Cricket Calc does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately at admin@cricketcalc.com.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your match data and account information
• Delete your match history at any time through the app
• Delete your account and all associated data by contacting admin@cricketcalc.com
• Request a copy of your data
• Use the app without creating an account

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you also have rights under GDPR including the right to object to processing and the right to data portability. Contact us to exercise these rights.

If you are a California resident, you have rights under CCPA. We do not sell personal information as defined by CCPA.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
